On the 11th December 2010, Hymba Yumba Community Hub held the Turning of the SOD on the parcel of land that was donated to us by Springfield Land Corporation for the construction of our permanent school building. We were honoured to have the Acting Prime Minister the Hon. Wayne Swan join our many special guests and families to perform the turning of the SOD alongside respected Elder Uncle Albert Holt and Traditional Land Owner from the Ugarapul Tribe, Uncle Paul Parson.  Qld Times article

Schools First Award

The successful partnership between Southside Education and Search Light Inc. was recognised by the Schools First Team, a partnership between NAB, Acer and The Foundation of Young Australians.

This partnership has enabled many young mothers’ to not only complete their senior schooling but also develop skills and strategies to be a positive role model and influence on their dreams.
