A collection of poetry, prose and art
Every two years Carinity Education – Southside produces and publishes a collection of poetry, prose and art in a beautiful book. The most recent book ‘Memories….lost but not forgotten’ was launched by journalist Kathleen Noonan at the school’s Art Exhibition held at the Brisbane Multicultural Arts Centre on the 15th October, 2015.
‘Memories….lost but not forgotten’
“For someone whose business is words, the raw creative talent of these Southside girls astounds me. There, in black and white, are their pain, bruises, fears and hopes. In life today, we seldom hear the voices of anyone disadvantaged. Bravo Southside School and staff for giving these young women a voice. Bravo to the girls for grabbing the opportunity with both hands. Sometimes in life, you have to write your own storyline”.
Kathleen Noonan, Journalist and Second Chance member
“It is humbling to read the words and appreciate the range of art that the students of Carinity Education Southside have created. They are so artistically impressive – and so inspirational in their scope, and their achievement”.
Dale Spender, Chairperson, Second Chance
“The young women of the Southside School never cease to amaze me! Here is yet another outstanding anthology of heartfelt and deeply personal poems from a very talented group of ladies. I feel very privileged that they have shared some of their life’s journey with us”.
